Pottstown Female Flagger ID'd After Fatal Strike At Lancaster Construction Site: Coroner

The woman who died while working as a traffic flagger at a construction site early morning on Thursday, Oct. 10, has been identified by the Lancaster County Coroner's Office the following afternoon.

Linetta Wells, 56, of the 900 block of North Hanover Street in Pottstown was directing traffic when she was struck by a SUV at the intersection of Stone Mill and Plymouth roads in Manor Township around 7:38 a.m., according to Lancaster County Wide Communications and later named by First Deputy Coroner Casey Buckley.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:38 a.m., Buckley wrote. 

The Lancaster County Coroner's Office was called to the scene. Her body was taken to the forensic center for an autopsy. Her cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.

She reportedly was with the utility company working in the area. 

A man who was driving the SUV stayed on the scene and has been cooperating with the police.

Stone Mill Road was shut down between Millersville Road and Fairway Drive for approximately two hours. 

The Lancaster County crash reconstruction team is investigating.

Linetta, also known as Linette, was originally from Saint George, South Carolina, according to her social media. 

She was a Traffic Safety Flagger with WexCon, according to her LinkedIn.
